On Monday, July 1st, a new documentary on Darfur is being aired on PBS, Channel 11.
The documentary has been produced by the Wide Angle group. It is titled: "Heart of Darfur".
According to the PBS guide, it will show on Channel 11 at 9:00 p.m.
There is more information about the documentary on the Wide Angle website. The link is: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/episodes/heart-of-darfur/heart-of-darfur-introduction/606/
The documentary examines the question of why Islamic responses to Darfur have been limited.
This question is salient and the discussion should be interesting.

Greetings STAND members (and STAND expats across the country)
We have received final confirmation for our table at the Glenview Summer Festival. All members of STAND are invited to join us to work the table and crowd during the day.
Our space at the festival appears to be the same as last year. We are across the street from the Paladium, just west of Church street. We are on the North side of the street.
The festival formally opens at 8:00 a.m. We will begin set-up at 7:00 a.m. The festival runs until 4:00 p.m. In fact, the rule says that we cannot leave until 4:00 p.m. at the earliest.
What I propose is that we break volunteer assignments down into segments. I will need volunteers for the following time periods:
7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
You are more than welcome to stay longer than a specific time slot, but I need a minimum of 5 people for each slot.
PLEASE EMAIL ME TO VOLUNTEER FOR A TIME SLOT. I NEED TO KNOW THAT WE WILL HAVE SUFFICIENT PEOPLE AT THE
TABLE AT ALL TIMES!!!
Several STAND members mentioned the possibility of a tent. If you have access to one (preferably at no cost), please let me know ASAP.
Last year, we got on Glenview T.V. and raised nearly $1000 for the school project. I am hoping to match that at the least.
Our presence will also help to get our message out to the greater community. After last year's program, we were invited to
speak before several community groups. We raised another $1000 from those meetings. Thus, this is a critical project.
I will be at school all day on Tuesday. If you need to talk to me, call my "cubicle" at .... I'll be checking email regularly as well.
Peace.
